Around 2,00,000 years ago homo sapiens (A. K. A. humans) begin to exist. Earlier days were tough. They can see each other but they won't able to know what others are thinking because there was no way to communicate. They started to feel the necessity of a way to communicate. The humans started to convey the information by using hand gestures. That was the first step towards communication.
Around 30,000 BC symbols were developed. These symbols were used in cave paintings, a form of rock art. The oldest known cave painting is located within the Chauvet cave in France. (30,000 to 32,000 BC) That was the first step towards a return communication. Humans took 20,000 years to shift from the cave painting to 'Petroglyphs' carvings into the rock surface. After 'Petroglyphs', humans shifted to 'Pictograms'. A pictogram is a symbol representing an activity, event, or place by illustration. In pictograms, ideas are transmitted through drawings. The most important difference between petroglyphs and pictograms is that petroglyphs are simply showing an event, but pictograms are telling a story about the event, thus they can be ordered chronologically.
Pictograms, in turn, evolved into ideograms, graphical symbols that represent an idea. Pictograms can explain the sun but can't tell about the wind, weather, or God. Ideograms solved the problem. After Ideograms, the writing was developed and then a full language.
The main reason to tell history is that the time is moving backward...
The mobile phone started a new era of communication. The Internet revolution was the icing on the cake. Complicated communication became simple and easily accessible to everyone. More than a decade ago, people preferred communicating over text messages than on telephonic calls. It saved time and people can communicate whenever they want without worrying about another person is free or not. When the other person is free, he/she will give a reply to the message. So, communication was that simple.
Nowadays because of the pandemic, we can't meet family or friends, therefore, texting or calling is the only option to communicate. I've observed that people are following the new trend of 'stickers' to communicate. Even in my contacts, many people send me stickers as a reply to my message. I don't know what is this? I know it's trending but that doesn't mean you've to use it as a reply to every message. I may be wrong but when someone replies to me with stickers only I feel like 'He/she is so busy that even he/she doesn't have time to type a word but he/she has enough time to find stickers'. I know pictures give us more information than words but there has to be some limit. And, most of the stickers used by people are meaningless. Sometimes the stickers are irrelevant to the message you have sent still you've to bear them because you don't want to hurt the feeling of so-called trendy people. People say that 'typing takes more time that's why I used stickers'. But the irony is that the same people are taking time to find the best sticker suitable for the moment. (Slow claps)
There's no problem using stickers. Even sometimes I use stickers to express some movie dialogues or jokes, but I don't use them as a reply to someone's message. Even if someone uses stickers as a reply to my message, I try to give reply as a message only. If you want to communicate, at least take some effort to type a message rather than finding a sticker. If someone sent you a message that means they expect the same thing from you not a sticker of someone dancing. It shows to the other person that you have time for them and if you reply to their message by a text, it will show them that you value their time. It feels bad when you sent a message and all you get in reply is a meaningless sticker.
Text vs text is a proper way of communication rather than text vs stickers or stickers vs stickers. We can use them as fun but don't include them in your daily conversations. Some day we all will get bored by stickers because of their irrelevant use. Don't let this beautiful invention die. Being an imperturbable person, I don't care about how much you use stickers but I think this issue needs to be addressed.
I think the stickers are the new version of pictograms and if the time is travelling back, then we are on the verge of extinction. #savetheworld 😝
Think over it...

P.S: I miss those old days when people were actually talking rather than replying.
