Robo-Tech Forum
First Phase (July-15
December)
It was in April 2019.
A meeting was organized by seniors of the Robo-Tech Forum to discuss plans of
the forum. Seniors asked all the second-year students to give their valuable
opinions for the post of the Student Coordinator of the club for the year 2019-20.
It is the official post. For the first time, there was more than one post
(Seniors used the management principle known as ‘Delegation of authority’) the
posts were ‘Mechanical Section head’, ‘Electronics Section head’, ‘Robocon
head’, ‘Non-Robocon head’, ‘Kaizen Engineer’, ‘Second-year Coordinator’, ‘First
year Coordinator’, ‘Workshop and Certificate head’ all those posts were
unofficial but by using delegation of authority, the workload of coordinator
will reduce. After Interviewing all of us, Gaurav Sir announced that ‘The most
fakal person will become the student coordinator of the club.’ I knew that he
was referring to me but I did not change my facial expression because who
admits he’s fakal. :P If I have to list all the things which made me happy/exciting
in engineering, then this incident will be amongst the top three. I messaged my
close friend and informed them. Later in the evening, I gave my first party as
a coordinator (Yes…!! Party of Milk Shake/Lassi is considered as a party).
That was all before the summer vacation.
Robo-Tech Forum is the
fraternity of students who are eager to learn robotics. The forum was
established in the year ‘2013‘. From 2014, the club started to participate in
the national level Robotics competition named “ABU ROBOCON”. Robocon is an
international competition, the winner of the national competition represents
the country at the international level. The theme and venue of the competition
vary according to the host country. The Robo-Tech forum is the only club in the
Government College of Engineering, Amravati who is dedicated to the field of
Robotics and Automation. The forum also won the Special award of MathWorks in
the year 2017 and in the year 2018, the club won the third prize at a
simulation competition at Robocon organized by MathWorks. Apart from that, the
students of the club also participate in different national level technical
fests. The main workforce of the club consists of students from the first,
second, and third-year while the final year students and supper seniors are the
mentors of the club.
On the 11th of July,
we organized our first meeting of the club. The main purpose of the meeting was
to assign tasks to a different individual. The most important thing for any
organization is the sanctioned budget which can satisfy every need of the club.
The faculty I/C of the club was Prof. P.L Paikrao Sir. He told me that make a
list of the things which you need throughout the year and don’t worry about the
total amount, I’ll talk with authorities and your budget will be sanctioned.
This is what any Coordinator wants for his team. Now with the full support of
faculty I/C, we can procure anything. We added all the advanced components
which we are going to use on the list. When we submitted the budget, it was a
whopping 7.42L. It was more than the combined budget for the last two years.
With the support of Paikrao Sir, we were ready for the main competition
Robocon-20.
Everything was fine
until one-day Paikrao Sir called me and told me to meet him in his cabin. I
thought that he wants to inquire about our current work that’s why he called
me. And I want his signature on the time permission letter. It was the first
time I signed on some official paper. By looking at the signature, I filled a
sense of responsibility. When I entered sir’s cabin, he told me that, ‘Start
looking for new faculty I/C’. After hearing this, I asked sir, ’Sir, why are
you saying like this?’ He said, ‘I have been selected by the government of
Maharashtra for the PhD program at SGGS Nanded.’ I congratulated him. He said
thank you and after that asked me, ’who’s in your mind for the I/C post?’ I
said Pathak Sir (because he was the only other faculty other than Paikrao sir
who was interested in the forum’s activity) with a puzzled face. He said,
‘oops, he is also selected for the program, we both are going to leave the
college after completing formalities.’ This sentence was enough for me to think
this day was the worst for us but the same day was best for Paikrao and Pathak
sir. I was happy for them. Breaking my thought process, I said to sir, ‘we need
time to think about faculty I/C.’ He said take your time and inform me. I left
the cabin and went straight to the RTF room and told everyone about the issue
of faculty I/C. Everyone was tensed as faculty I/C is the key connection
between students and college authority. And, Paikrao sir enthusiastically did
so many things for the club. It was going to be very hard for us to find his
replacement.
After some days, we
came to know that Paikrao sir leaving was not the only blow club is going to
face. The Principal of GCOE, Amravati Dr R.S. Dalu was transferred to GCOE,
Aurangabad. Now, it was a big challenge for us because both teachers were very
supportive. This was the first severe change that was about to happen since the
beginning of the club. As changes are inevitable, we can’t do much. Now the
hunt of faculty I/C begins with some caution. Because it’s not like that the
new faculty/Principal will not be supportive. It’s like that when things are
going in the right direction on a path with fewer obstacles, we don’t want to
change the path. We want things to stay as it is. Sometimes we don’t like
change. But the situation was not in our control. Without worrying further, we
decided to face the situation. Now the destination was the same but the path is
different.
Before leaving
college, Paikrao Sir suggested the name of Gajbhiye sir from the Electrical
Department. We asked sir about the new opening and he said he’s ready for the
post. But we were not confident that he’s is the best option out there that’s
why we talk with a few more faculty members. It was difficult for us (Me and
Ankush) to sound like that we were taking interviews of them. (but we were) As
Paikrao sir recommended Gajbhiye sir for the post, and we trust him that’s why
we chose Gajbhiye sir as the faculty I/C of the club for the year 2019-20.
After faculty selection, my eyes were on the arrival of the new principal sir.
Dr R.P Borkar is the new principal of GCOE, Amravati. When he was in GCOEA, He
was the head of the Civil Engineering Department. To know him better, I used to
ask the security guards/assistant of the principal. They all told me that Sir
is very strict. They also told me about every principal sir who joined the college
after 2000. According to them, Gandhare sir was the best, he used to walk in
the college with the face covered, and whenever he saw students sitting idle in
the canteen or any other place, he used to ask them about the lecture and if
the lecturer gave them off then he used to call the respective lecturer and
asked them the reason. Such was the swag of Gandhare Sir. (Now new principal
sir is strict was the reason to worry.)
In the first or second
week of August, Borkar Sir arrived in the college. The first thing the
principal sir did was to make a new rule. According to the new rule, ‘Any
student irrespective of his/her post can’t visit Principal’s cabin, if he/she
has some official work then he/she should ask the appointed faculty to visit
the principal’s cabin.’ That means only faculties can talk with the Principal
sir. If you are a student then you’ve to write a note stating the reason of
your visit, if the principal sir finds the reason legitimate then and only then
you are allowed to enter in the cabin otherwise not. Maybe he was doing this
for the students benefit because many times faculties think that, ’if a student
is facing some problem in the college then they (faculty) have nothing to do
with it.’ They just ignore the students and their problems forgetting that they
are an integrated part of this college. Every student in the college should
focus on learning/improving his/her knowledge if all the students visit the
Principal’s office then the waiting time will increase and it’s will become
quite cumbersome. That may be one of the reasons why the principal sir formed
the new rule. Now because of the new rule, we’ve to depend on our faculty I/C
for every time we need any permission (Almost all the permissions require the
signature of Principal Sir.) Once Gajbhiye sir was not in the town, and we
badly needed sign of Principal sir on 12 documents (All were quotation call
letters) because our end semester exam was over and in the third year, students
organize Himachal Tour after the completion of V Sem. It was our last practical
exam and I was already on the tour mood because we were leaving just after four
days and before the vacation, we wanted to send the quotation call letters to
12 dealers. So, After the vacation, we can give the supply order to the lowest
bidder and the components will arrive in the college as early as possible. I
planned to leave Amravati as soon as I get the signed documents. But duo to
different meetings, Principal sir was busy. I was just sitting outside the
cabin waiting for my file to arrive. You, believe it or not, I got the file
containing signed documents after sitting idle for more than five hours. I was
mentally broken and physically exhausted. Believe it or not, when you are in
the full mood of doing your favorite activity (mine is traveling), you are in
the no mood to handle such stress. The next day I left for Nagpur with a file
and a smile.
The Robo-Tech Forum
was formed to take part in the National level competition ‘Robocon’. The
organizer of the ‘Robocon-20’ is Fiji and the host country decides the theme of
the competition. In the last week of August, the theme of the competition was
declared. It was ‘Robo Rugby 7S’ (the national game of Fiji is Rugby that may
be the reason behind its selection). Now according to the theme, we’ve to make
two bots viz. Passing Robot (PR) and Trying Robot (TR). First, the PR has to
take the ball from the ball rack, and then it should pass the ball to TR. TR
should catch the ball and then it has to place the ball in the Try spots
(without touching the fence of the spot). After successful placement, any one
of the bots can kick the ball from three different kicking zones. The theme was
comparatively easier than the last year’s theme. The next two weeks in the club
were dedicated to the Robocon and everyone gave their respective idea of the
two upcoming robots.
Every year Robo-Tech
Forum recruits’ new members from first- and second-year students. As first-year
students don’t have any idea about the club or college, we decided to arranged
an introductory session of the Club’s activities. It was scheduled for
September, 2. I traveled from Chandrapur to Amravati. It’s quite a long journey
and if there’s no direct train then you can consider it as ‘longest’. For me,
it was the longest journey. Being the Coordinator of the club, I’ve to give a
presentation. It was my first time facing more than 200 eyes. I was a bit
nervous. Purvi started the presentation by giving an introduction of every
member I was the last one to get introduced. When she announced my name and my
post, I heard a lot of sounds from the students of the first year. I was
already on the cloud nine hearing their applause. I controlled myself and wave
towards them and Purvi handed me the mic. Their cheer made me more confident
and due to this, I performed much better than I expected. Needless to say, the
program was successful. After that I gave my *Second Party* to everyone, it was
of Maggie from Maggie Point. Over the next few days, we scheduled aptitude
tests for the first- and second-year students, and then after shortlisting
candidates, we took interview of the shortlisted candidates, and then we
selected 32 students from the first year and second year.

After testing
two-three kicking mechanisms, we decided to go with the current mechanism. In
October, our mechanisms were decided. Our 30% of work was over and for 70% of
the work, we needed new material and new components. Due to over Diwali
vacation, end semester exams, and end semester holidays, we decided to continue
the remaining work in December after the end of this long relaxation period.
Before going to the vacation, we decided to order the new material (Extrusion
bar) so that when we are back in Amravati, we can directly work on the robots
without wasting any time. In the November end and December first week, we spend
approximately 40k and purchased all the necessary components. Our seniors
(Anmol sir, and the final year seniors) helped us to collect such a mammoth
amount. Before going on vacation, Gajbhiye Sir made all the quotation call
letters and I helped him in the process. And, we got it signed from the
principal sir. Later I mailed the quotation letter to respective
dealers.
Second Phase (15
December – 18 March)
I arrived at the
college on 16 December. I arrived early because Faculty I/C and I decided to
open the quotations which were arrived in the vacation period. But two
quotations were yet to arrive that’s why we waited for another two or three
days and then we opened the quotations. We required three things, viz.
Electronic Components, Mechanical Components, and Plywood (for making arena for
the second round of the competition). After making a comparative statement, we
decided to give a supply order to the lowest bidders. When you give a supply
order to any shop/organization/dealer, you’ve to provide a period (days) for
the components/material to arrive at your location (successful delivery). We
provided 20 days. (As one of the dealers was from Noida.) Later two of the
three selected dealers told us that they can’t deliver the goods as they needed
advance. But in the quotation procedure, you’ve to deliver the goods first then
you’ll get your money. So, our college didn’t agree with them and they didn’t
deliver our order. Due to the period given to them, we’ve to wait for 20 days
to get over so that we can give supply orders to the second-lowest dealer. The
process is very time consuming and we didn’t have enough time to wait for
another month for the components to arrive. To purchase the required components
in the first week of December itself was our best decision.
IIT Delhi organizes
Robocon in India and they announced the details of the first round. In the
first round, a team has to submit design and detail documentation of the idea
which the team is going to implement in the robot for the next round. You’ve to
provide all the details with proper calculations (E.g. If you decided to run a
specific motor at 100RPM then you have to answer the question in the
documentation that why are you running it on 100RPM? You’ve to calculate the
value theoretically.) And, we decided to add some photos of the Robots in the
documentation itself (for an extra impression). To add photos, the Robots
should be completed before the deadline of the first round. The deadline for
the first round was 31st Jan. We can’t make two different because of the
paucity of the components but we can make two different bots at two different
times because the base of both the robot is of the same dimension. (By removing
all the components and upper structure of the robot and replacing it with the
upper structure of the second robot.) It was a cumbersome task but we have to
do it to increase our chances of selection.
January-20 was the
busiest month of our RTF life, Ankush and Sneha were simulating the Kicking
mechanism in the MATLAB. (In the second year, I worked on Simulation in MATLAB
and I know that how it can change your happy mood to sad.) Shivam, Tanvesh, and
Prajwal were working on the Electronics section of the Robocon Robots. Vishal
and Vaibhavi were working on the designing and fabrication of robots. Purvi and
Rahul were working on ML/CV. Saurabh was working on a project for Avishkar and
both the shubhankar’s were working on the Drone. I was busy in the quotation
process and in our college, girls can’t stay in the college after 7 PM and
Amravatikar can’t stay after 9/10 because of the family pressure. So, after
7:00, I used to help Vishal in fabrication and I was also in the project with
Saurabh.
Vishal and Vaibhavi
were preparing all the Mechanical section while Tanvesh and Shivam were
preparing the Electronics section of the documentation. My task was to take
updates from them and to collab the two sections. I Vishal used to work till
midnight in the club and after that, I used to come in the room (kathora Naka)
and then spent some time on documentation. It was quite hectic but its today’s
pain that results in tomorrow’s gain.
To our surprise, IIT
Delhi extended the deadline for the first round till 7 Feb. Now we have seven
extra days to fabricate the bots. But there were a problem Class tests of the
Electronics and Mechanical department were scheduled on 5,6,7 of Feb. That
means the backbone of the Mechanical section (Vishal) won’t be available when
we’ve to change the structure of the Robot. We took the photographs of the
first robot (TR) and then dismantled it while keeping the base. Then we placed
the mechanism of PR on the same base with all the connections. (Read:
Incomplete wires, Cello tape/double tape for hiding wires) To show everything
is working, we connected the battery to the motor driver because of this, the
lights of the motor driver were turned on and it looked like the robot is in
working condition but the truth was different. (Because of the non-availability
of the components we took this step. If components were available at the time
of the shoot, we definitely would have completed both the bots. (At least
mechanically)) Now we’ve captured photos of both the robots and we were going
to add those photos in the documentation. After adding the photos in the
documentation, we planned to give it to some faculties of our college for
cross-checking and to be sure that what we’ve written. Chaudhari Sir, Sindekar
Sir, Sharma Sir gave their valuable insights on the documentation. We noted
down their corrections. Anmol sir also suggested some valuable insights.
De-Day (February 7)
I started correcting
all the things which were suggested by the faculties and our seniors. After the
paper of Electronics and Mechanical students, we (Tanvesh, Shivam, Vishal,
Vaibhavi, Shubhankar and I) started to examine every line of the documentation. We were
checking the meaning of each line and possible inferences that can be drawn by
the judges. Vishal and Vaibhavi were checking the mechanism section of the documentation
and the found out that the written sentences are not conveying the meaning
properly and both of them decided to write the whole section again. It was
15:00 (Nine hours before the deadline) and we were writing the most important
section of the documentation again. The mechanism section of the documentation
also consists of calculations. Vishal was focusing on the calculations and the
rest of us were focusing on the documentation. Around 19:00, the calculation
and mechanical section were completed. Meanwhile, I uploaded the CAD files on
google drive. (One day before the exam, Vaibhavi made changes in the CAD model
rather than studying, she was investing her time for benefit of the club)
(You’ve to submit a design on the proposed Robot for the first round). Now our
task was to improvise the documentation by using uncommon words and improve
presentation. At 22:30, we completed the documentation and it was looking
extremely good. While reading the document, I noted we’ve written ‘2022’ words.
A thought came in mind, the year is “2020”, also the name of the competition is
“Robocon-20”. Everywhere its “2020”. And, therefore we
decided to reduce two words so that all the figures will be equal. We knew that
it was nonsense but it was quite fun doing it. We use the exact 2020 words in
the documentation and uploaded them on the google form. When we uploaded the
document, it was 23:20. (We never thought that this ‘2020’ will bring such
hazardous disease and because of it our competition will get postponed till further
notice.)
On the website of
DD-Robocon, it was mentioned that the results will be declared on 22nd
February. Because of the uncertainty of the result, we took the work of Robocon
lightly and focused on other projects (Axis, VNIT) and I was back with the
quotation work. I thought we should wait for the results of Robocon, before
issuing a supply order. (because of the cost of plywood was around 50K and if
we didn’t clear the first round of the competition, what we were going to do
with those plywood sheets?) That’s why we waited for the results. On 22nd
February, the website displayed another notification, ‘The result of the first
round will be displayed on 29th February.’ Now the waiting period was increased
to seven more days.
29th February (Result day)
Robocon tends to
change the result day. They always postpone the result by a week. So, on 29th,
we didn’t think that they will declare the result. We were taking things casual
(after every hour I was checking their website, I know that’s not casual.).
Tired of checking the site, I decided to take a nap (around 16:00). At 17:00,
Ankush checked the site and found nothing just after Ankush checked the site, I
woke up and visit the site. To my surprise, the results of the first round were
displaced. I downloaded the PDF and started searching for the name of our
college. I was expecting that we’ll clear the first round. After scrolling the
pdf, I saw the marks and then I shouted the best word known to the man. My
roommates were curious, why I was shouting the best word. Then again, I
shouted, ‘MC, 100 paiki 100 BC.’ As soon as I said 100 paiki 100, Ankush was
shocked he snatched my mobile and saw the result. After this, we hugged each
other later joined by our roommates. I forwarded the result of the WhatsApp
group of RTF and then ran towards the RTF room to celebrate our hard-earned
success. Everyone including faculties and Principal sir congratulates us.
Principal sir said that’ You’ve full support from college just focus on
competition and we’ll take care of your exams.’ Vedant Sir and Prajwal sir
brought sweets (pedhe) to distribute. We congratulated each other. It was a very
big moment for us from not shortlisted for the second round of Robocon-19 to
one of the few teams who score a perfect ton! It was quite a big achievement
for us. (We scored better than COE Pune and IIT Delhi too.) It was a very big
day for us.
On 1st March, we
issued two supply orders. (Plywood and Electronics Components) The plywood got
delivered within three days and we decided to make an arena for the competition
in the E&TC department. On the 6th we started working on the Arena, but we
have to stop our work because of the CT's. Our second unit test which was
scheduled on 8,9,10. On the 10th we gathered our workforce and planned to complete
the Arena in the next two-three days. To complete the target, we decided to
work till 4:00 AM. For the next three days, we worked for at least 2:00 AM.
Meanwhile, the unwanted guest arrived in India from China and the government
was trying to protect it. The arena was almost complete then we realized that
the ground is not flat and it’ll trouble the bot to travel. On 14th March, we
decided to insert MDF sheets beneath the plywood sheets. In the evening, we
received the notice from the college and they mentioned in the notice that we
can stay in the hostel for a maximum of two days. After two days, we have to
leave the hostel to prevent the spreading of the Chinese virus and to avoid any
public gathering. On the same day, I called jape ma’am and asked ma’am about
the news and she said that yes, you’ve to leave the college immediately. The
college won’t start till 31st March. I called the student leader of other clubs
and they were also facing the same problem and we decided to write a letter to
IIT Delhi for postponing the dates of the second round. Before leaving for our
respective towns, we decided to complete the arena on 14th itself. We worked
from 10:00-6:00 AM and completed the arena. We also applied primer to the
sheets. On 15th around 10:00 AM, I left for Chandrapur.
Due to some family
problem, I had to travel to Amravati again on March 18th, we completed the
billing procedure and covered the arena with plastic covers to protect it from
rain. We had almost completed one robot while the structure of the second robot
was ready and the electronics components were also delivered. The deadline for
the second round was in the third week of April. We had one month to complete
the other bot and to prepare a video of the task completed by robots. We had
more than enough time to complete both robots. But due to a change in the
situation, we were not able to complete the bot.
Fast Forward to
13/9/20
The cases are
increasing, and there’s no news from IIT Delhi about the Robocon. As the future
of the competition was uncertain, and I was in the final year and final year
students are the mentors of the club. So, on 13th September we (final year
students) decided to hand over the charge of the club to the third-year
students. The meeting lasted for more than four hours and the next coordinator
of the club was selected. I was no longer the coordinator of the club.
Because of our collective effort, we did what seemed impossible. I’m thankful to the
final year seniors who trusted me for the most important post of the club.
Also, I’m thankful to all the members of the club. It was my pleasure to lead a
team of such hardworking members. You are the best guys…!!
As a coordinator for
more than a year, I would like to share some thoughts. (Or the things which
should be changed)
- In December 2019, the college
organizes the Alumni meet of the silver jubilee batch. In the program, I
was allowed to speak on the behalf of the club. It was my first stage
experience and the Robo-Tech forum made it possible. The club helped me to
overcome my stage fear.
- When I was in the second year, I used to respect the third year seniors a lot. Once I was travelling from Amravati to Nagpur. I didn't inform any senior about by the departure and my phone was not in the proper working condition. Luckily my I was travelling with my friend I messaged from her mobile to Vedant sir that I won't be able to come to RTF and assured him that I'll work on simulation in MATLAB. He replied okay 'bhava'. And after the incident, my friend started calling Vedant sir as 'Bhava' and Vedant sir used to tease me by saying, ' I know whom you travel with...' (Both the things we're quite funny) (I was not terrified of senior, I was respecting them from the bottom of my heart and I'll continue to do so to each senior of RTF) Such type of respect is not absent in our juniors. Maybe we're lacking at some point. I think as a junior you should at least respect your seniors. I think this thing should change. (P.S: By calling someone sir, it does not mean you respect them and as a senior, I don't want such kind of respect)
- The budget of the Robo-Tech Forum for the year
2019 is 7.42L. We have enough money to buy all the advanced components that we
might need in the year. But we can’t buy all the components because first we
have to pay and buy all the components and then we’ve to submit the bills to
college and then after that we’ll receive our money. If we want to purchase
anything above 5K, then we’ve to order it by the process of quotation. The
process requires at least one month to complete and sometimes the time
available to us is less. So, each year we contribute money and make the
required purchase ant at the end of the financial year, we get our money back.
This year we’ve contributed more than 1.4L and still, our bills are not
cleared. If such a scenario continues then the students won’t pay for the
components and this will further cause more time delay. The college should
speed up the process of bill clearance. (The lowest point in my life was when I
paid the entry fees of the Robocon and after that, my account balance was only
₹150 from more than 7K in July)
- We used Extrusion bars to fabricate our bots
and in Jan-Feb, Corona was at peak in China and due to this, the material was
not available on any of the robotics websites. In the same period, we have
given supply order to a Noida based dealer named ‘Shailendra Designcut
Engineers’ I asked him that if he can deliver the product and he said yes. But
he asked for 50% advanced. We badly needed material. So, without giving another
thought, I transferred ₹2000. And we waited for him to deliver the products.
But he started ignoring my calls and then he blocked me on every platform.
Thank god he didn’t deliver the electronics components to us. He’s a fraud.
When I told the incident to the faculty I/C he said that it’s your fault and
now you’ve to handle it. I know it was my fault but I did it for the betterment
of the club. It’s not like we encountered only bad dealers, Ideal Hardware
(Amravati), Shree Electronics (Aurangabad), and Universal Plywood (Nashik)
deliver us the goods without advance. They delivered the goods in March and
till today Shree Electronics (1.6L) and Universal Plywood (0.4L) hadn’t
received the check from college. College should relax some rules so that such
benevolent dealers will continue to provide goods to the college clubs.
- When I was selected for the post of
coordinator, Wallabh Sir (FY, E&TC) congratulate me and told me that ‘With
great power comes great responsibility.’ I knew from the beginning that the
task ahead is very challenging and I’ve to give my 100% to make it achievable.
For the whole year, my social life was next to zero. I lost most of my social
contacts. People used to taunt me by saying ‘if you send a message to Aradhya,
then he’ll give a reply after a day.’ Just a little explanation. I used to wake
up between 8:00-9:00 AM. Then at 10:30, our college starts till 5:10. After
5:10, I used to be in the RTF room working till midnight (consider half an hour
break for dinner). After coming to the room, I used to be so tired that I would
go to sleep after checking my WhatsApp. Due to sleep deprivation, I was
suffering from headaches. On some days, the headaches were so severe that I was
not able to withstand the light. I used to switch off all the lights and tried
to control the ache. That’s why I was trying to avoid any usage of the screen
to maintain my health. (It’s a symptom of Migraine but I believe it's not true
because the symptoms are not regular) (P.S: When I used WhatsApp, I used to give a
reply to every person (if the message is not an end message). And there was no
priority order of the people.)
- In the second year, I worked on MATLAB and
handled the MATLAB section of the club along with Vedant Sir and Gaurav. In the
third year, I didn’t learn any new technical thing. Because as a leader you’ve
to sacrifice anything for the public good and I sacrificed my work on technical
things. Before the start of the third year, I leader ML and was planning to
work on some projects. But It was not possible for me to focus on two things
and I decided to drop the idea and started to work for the club. Later, I lost
interest in ML. And I think ‘if you lost interest in some particular thing,
then the thing is not meant for you.’ By focusing on managerial things, I feel that
this thing is for me and I want to make my career in this field. Thank you so
Robo-Tech Forum for showing me the right direction and the place where I truly
belong.
- And the last thing which I would like to
share, “I have heard many first-year students saying that they want to become
the next joint G.S /G.S (gathering secretary) but I have not heard from a
single student that he/she wants to become the next student Coordinator (RTF)
or Captain (Baja/Tifan) of any students club. All they want is to work for some
15-20 days and then enjoy fame for the rest of the year. While we worked for a
year and other than our close friends and members of the club, no one
recognizes us. Even our college felicitates all the members of the gymkhana
council on a cultural day. But we didn’t receive any felicitation nor
appreciation. We don’t want any appreciation nor we do things for appreciation.
But if someone recognizes our efforts and take time to apricate us, we will
feel happy and we’ll work even harder. If anyone things all the posts are the
same then you are wrong brother ‘Gymkhana posts will make you famous
in college or at most university level (Off course if you work hard) But by
working hard and giving proper dedication, our posts will make college famous
at the national level.’ That’s the difference. I’ll mention one incident here.
On the behalf of all the clubs of Maharashtra Akash Bagade (Team Automatons,
PCCOE) and I wrote a letter to Prof. Saha of IIT D, for postponing the
competition and his reply was shared on every WhatsApp group of Robocon. After
that, a professor from GTU (Gujrat Technical University) thanked Team GCOEA for
requesting the IIT Delhi to postpone the competition. It was our pleasure to
represent our college at the National level.” So, juniors choose your aim
wisely. (wink wink)
